Saab Key Replacement
It can be very frustrating to lose keys to your car stolen. It's cheap and easy to get a new car key if you own an additional key.
You'll need to get rid of the electronic component of your old key fob and program it to your vehicle using a saab Tech 2 device. There will be a cost if you delay this process.

Keys lost or stolen
It is as easy as ever to copy the key into your car as it was 20 years ago. The only difference is that modern keys come with an electronic chip inside of the keys. These chips offer a lot of protection against theft and key copying. However, this does not mean that you will never lose your key.

Lockouts
Saab owners should always carry a spare key because it's much simpler to replace keys that have been stolen or lost. If you've lost your only key, it's a different story because it's costly to get one and requires a dealer to install and program a brand new TWICE module (Column Integration Module for earlier vehicles) and a brand new key that is OEM (not from Amazon or eBay).
If remote control keys aren't locking or unlocking your car, there are a variety of possibilities for the cause. The most common is an empty battery on the key fob, but it could be caused by worn buttons and water damage, signal interference, and problems with the receiver module.
If your problem persists after having checked all of these, you can try reprogramming your ignition key. This is accomplished by changing the number count (in inverse hex) to zero in the ECU. You'll need to remove the case of your key fob in order to do this. This can be done by removing the emergency key from the fob. Once this is done, you can use a flathead screwdriver to open the case and expose the battery. Be careful when opening the case and do not pour or drop any liquids in the fob as they can damage the electronic components inside.

Since 1995, every Saab is required to have an immobilizer for vehicles. This makes it nearly impossible to steal a vehicle without a particular key. Replacement
Owners of Saab cars from about 1994 and beyond are advised to keep at least two working keys for their vehicle.
